Sunday Reflection

Reading 1,  First Kings 19:9, 11-13 , Reading 2,  Romans 9:1-5 Gospel,  Matthew 14:22-33 Reading 1 talked about Elijah n the cave and his encounter with Jehovah. Lessons: Recognising the presence of God wherever we are. Where are we presently, is that where God wants you to be,is that where you should be, is that where u want to be? Most of all knowing where God dwells. From the reading, a hurricane, earthquake and fire all passed but God wasn't in any except a light murmuring sound. Where are we seeking God, he can only be found in a peaceful environments. Reading 2 letter of Paul to the Romans. He talked about the Israelites, the adopted children of God to whom laws of God and His promises were given. From them through physical descendents came Christ. Gospel centered on faith. As Christ walked on water amidst strong wind. Lesson: Faith. How strong is our faith in Christ. Have courage, do not be afraid. Peter started well but along the line his faith was ...

Readings from Wisdom 18: 6-9, Hebrew 11:1-2, 8-19/8-12 and Luke 12:32-40.35-40 The first reading is taken from the book of Wisdom, one of the books that make up the corpus known as the Biblical Wisdom Literature of the Old Testament. The reading is a reinterpretation of what happened in the night in which the people of Israel finally left Egypt. The author used a literary genre known as syncrisis, a kind of comparison that points out the contrast between the plight of the Israelites and that of the Egyptians. The literary form was used to show that God reversed the means the Egyptians had hoped to use to afflict the Israelites. The outcome was that the Egyptians were smitten while the Israelites went unharmed. The point the text wants to make by using the literary form was to show God's providence for Israel, his elect.
